Our story

Family-owned and operated since 1999

Cantera Ranch was established in 1999 and is owned and operated by the Lavender family. The ranch was purchased to give friends and family an opportunity to enjoy God's creation.

J. A. Lavender Jr. was a devoted outdoorsman who especially enjoyed the Texas Hill Country. His son Jim's experience managing a game ranch near Llano led to the purchase of Cantera Ranch. Jim and his son Scott worked to create wildlife habitat suited to the region.

A hallmark feature of the ranch is a large limestone rock quarry. Its stone was mined and crushed for use in constructing State Highway 16.
